The significant event of 1969 was the launch of a new Pontiac GTO model called 'The Judge'. The Judge name came from a comedy routine, "Here Comes the Judge", used repeatedly by Sammy Davis Jr. on the enormously popular "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In TV" show.

The ZR1 engine is a modified LS3, designated the LS9, producing 638 hp (476 kW) and 604 ft·lbf (819 N·m). of torque, making this the most powerful production Corvette to date. The LS9 has a sixth-generation Eaton TVS R2300 roots 4-lobe supercharger with an intercooler.

When FIA reduced the capacity limits to 3 litres for prototypes in the World Constructors' Championships at the end of 1967 (but homologated sports cars built in quantities of at least 25 examples were allowed to have 5 litres), a prototype emerged in the form of the 908, which put Porsche on an even footing with its rivals in the competition for the title.

In May 2005, a prototype Veyron tested at a Volkswagen track near Wolfsburg, Germany recorded an electronically limited top speed of 400 km/h (249 mph). In October 2006, Car and Driver magazine's editor Csaba Csere test drove the final production version of the Veyron for the November 2006 issue. This test, at Volkswagen's Ehra-Lessien test track, reached a top speed of 407.5 km/h (253.2 mph).

Volvo Car Corporation proudly presented the Volvo S80L at the 6th Guangzhou Motor Show in south China. The S80L, a long wheelbase version of the popular S80 sedan, has been locally tailored and specifically designed for the market in China. Furthermore, the Volvo S80L will be locally produced in China. The new design was unveiled by Dr. Alexander Klose, CEO of Volvo Car China, and marks the acceleration of its localization plan.

The first automobile ever produced was the Benz Patent Motorwagen, built in 1885 and unveiled in 1886 by Karl Benz. Unique and consequently the fastest, it established a record speed of 16 km/h (10 mph). More than a century later, in September 2007, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT registered the latest record, for a production car, of 412 km/h (256.18 mph).

It’s raw power is supplied from a 7 litre V8 engine with both a supercharger and a turbo. The Zenvo ST1 develops 1104 BHP of power which is controlled at the flick of a switch. Producing a massive 1.430 NM of torque which is put to ground via a 6 speed gearbox, variable suspension and custom wheels. Zenvo goes 0 to 100 in an impressive 3 seconds.

Karmann Ghia's great looks made for a fairly good selling car, totalling over 10,000 the first year. The Karmann Ghia was last produced in 1974 to make way for the new Volkswagen Scirocco. Only 365,912 coupes and 79,325 convertibles were produced which make the Karmann Ghia a fairly rare car considering it was produced for nearly 20 years.

Revealed in late 2007, the 2009 GT-R marks the revival of an iconic nameplate for Nissan. The car is powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo V6, good for 480 horsepower and 434 ft-lb of torque. The only transmission that will be available in the GT-R is a GR6 dual-clutch six-speed. The GT-R's powertrain is reportedly good for a zero to 60 time of 3.5 seconds, a quarter mile time of only 11.7 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph.

The Roadster version of the Murciélago will offer an uprated 6.5 litre V12 engine that produces 650 hp (478 kW) along with permanent four-wheel drive: hence the model’s LP 650-4 moniker. With 660 Nm of torque, top performance is at 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is around 330 Km/h (205mph).

Students at colleges and universities can also take part in single seater racing through the Formula SAE competition, which involves designing and building a single seater car in a multidisciplinary team, and racing it at the competition. The "RK Coupe" is based on the current Cayman S chassis from Porsche, and like the RK Spyder is built by the Italian Coach Builder "Studiotorino" owned by Alfredo & Maria Paola Stola. The "RK Coupe" will be limited to 49 vehicles and will also be available to the US market.

When gas prices spiked last summer, carmakers started talking about downsizing. They would fast-track the production of lighter cars with lower-displacement engines, and we’d use less gas and have smaller carbon footprints. World peace would follow shortly thereafter. Less than a year later, downsizing is here: The Audi S5 cabriolet will be among the first vehicles to hit the market with significantly reduced engine displacement and fuel consumption compared with the model it replaces. (In this case, that’s the 4.2-liter V-8–powered 2009 S4 cabriolet, since this is the first-ever S5 droptop.)

Simbol Design designed the Lavazza GTX supercar using their 30 year road and racing automotive experience. On the road since May of 2006, and after about 30.000 kms of tests, Simbol reached speeds of about 320 kms/h with excellent stability and braking in every condition. Filming of the series went ahead at Dunsfold in May despite not having a permit to do so, with a revamped studio set, a new car for the "Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car" segment, and the inclusion of one of Hammond's dogs, named "Top Gear Dog", in a few studio and film segments of that series.
